The latest film from UK-based Walport Maritime Training Films should convince people that ‘the human element’ is more than just a fashionable slogan. Produced by Walport in tandem with Pukka Films, the 35-minute DVD entitled ‘The Human Element’ is anchored on the award-winning book by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). It tackles the question many fail to ask every time the subject of maritime safety comes up: Why do people behave the way they do? This Walport film is a leap forward in the collective effort to better understand human behaviour as it affects safety at sea. It is ‘game-changing’, to borrow Walport’s description.
