Guantanamera (a song about love for one's native land and its people )

'Guantanamera' is a famous Cuban song. It is not a maritime song but it will resonate with sailors and others who love the land of their birth and its people. "Con los pobres de la tierra/ Quiero yo mi suerte echar" (With the poor people of this earth, I want to share my fate), goes one verse. The song uses words from a poem by the great Cuban poet, José Martí. It was performed live in 1965 on a US television show by Pete Seeger, Rosa Valentin, and Rafael Martinez with some English translation by Seeger. The recording from the Internet Archive was remastered by Marine Café Blog to play at a higher quality 320kbps. (8 MiB, MP3, 3:29 minutes)
