Tale of Two Female Pirates: Mary Read and Anne Bonny

Mary Read and Anne Bonny broke the social and even sexual conventions of the 18th century. Both were pirates who rivalled their male counterparts in courage and ruthlessness. This monograph contains two chapters about Mary and Anne, respectively, which were extracted from Captain Charles Johnson's 1724 book, A General History of the Pyrates, from their First Rise and Settlement in the Island of Providence, to the Present Time.
