The Drunken Sailor by Captain Richard Maitland

This version of 'The Drunken Sailor' was recorded in the 1930s by Captain Richard Maitland. It begins with an interesting intro by Maitland, who says the shanty was usually sung by sailors to accompany the task of scrubbing the bottom of the ship's hull. The recording is from the U.S. Library of Congress album, American Sea Songs and Shanties (I), with some remastering by Marine Café Blog. (3.5 MiB, MP3, 2:54)
