The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (illustrated, PDF format)

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is a poem in seven parts by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772–1834) illustrated with 38 works by the great French printmaker, Gustave Doré (1832–1883). This jewel of English literature is a story of sin, suffering and redemption. The title character stops one of three young men on their way to a wedding party and mesmerises him with the tale of his youthful saga at sea — how he killed an albatross and brought bad luck to himself and his fellow sailors.
