The Song of the Volga Boatmen by Pawel Prokopieni (traditional Russian folk song in MP3)

'The Song of the Volga Boatmen' features the vocals of Polish bass-baritone opera singer Pawel Prokopieni (1910-1976) with Russian Ivan Basilevsky at the piano. The song (‘Eh, Ukhnem!’ to the Russians or ‘Yo, Heave Ho!’) pays tribute to the Volga River and the men who pulled barges against its current. This undated recording was made available via the Internet Archive by the Museum of Russian Culture, San Francisco.
