Wellerman by Nathan Evans (whaling song in MP3)

'Wellerman' is a New Zealand whaling song dating back to the 1830s. It is a folk song, not a sea shanty as some have erroneously categorised it. The "wellerman" in the title refers to the boat/skipper that brought supplies to the shore whaling stations in New Zealand in the 1830s and 40s. The performer is Nathan Evans, a Scottish singer (born 1994) known for singing and popularising sea shanties. This audio file is from the Internet Archive. (5.9 MiB, MP3, 2;34 minutes)
