Young Susan (traditional English folk song in MP3)

'Young Susan' is about a young woman who dresses up as a man to join the crew of a British man-of-war. It was taboo then for women to join the navy or even board a naval ship. The belief was that their presence would create mischief and disorder on board. The song has an interesting narrative and is performed by Hazel Askew, a singer, musician and composer from London. It is courtesy of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. (4.1MiB,MP3, 2:58 minutes)
