Last year, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) altogether sent home US$20.12 billion with seafarers remitting a total of US$4.34 billion. Surely, they deserve a few perks for helping prop up the Philippine economy. For this reason, Carla Salinas Limcaoco, president of Women in Maritime – Philippines (WIMAPHIL) is urging OFWs and their families to join her group’s 5th anniversary affair at the TriNoma shopping mall in Quezon City, Metro Manila, and get their VIPinoy cards.

Costing just PHP150, the VIPinoy card gives holders certain privileges such as access to VIPinoy lounges with free wifi and other amenities; priority in buying tickets at Ayala cinema houses; and 10% discounts in Ayala mall establishments. OFW applicants need to present their valid overseas company ID, passport and POEA contract. For immediate family members of OFWs, the requirements are proof of remittance or receipt from any local bank or money transfer facility (valid as of the last three months); copy of allotment slip and  allottee ID.

We don’t mind making a pitch for the VIPinoy programme of Ayala Malls, which is showing its appreciation to Filipino migrant workers. And, of course, it’s the fifth anniversary of WIMAPHIL, which deserves wider support. ~Barista Uno
