More than a million people crowded the banks of London’s River Thames on 3rd June to watch Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee pageant. BBC online has a splendid portrayal of the event – a composite high-definition image made up of 60 individual shots. You can zoom in on some of the 1,000 boats that took part, including the gilded royal barge, The Spirit of Chartwell. You’ve got to hand it to the Brits. They have a deep sense of tradition, and they love their Queen. They also love the historic River Thames, which has been restored to life after being declared “biologically dead” 55 years ago. ~Barista Uno
