Lao Tzu and the 11th March tsunami
A line from the ancient Chinese classic Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu reads: ‘Heaven and Earth are heartless / treating creatures like straw dogs.’ We were reminded of it when we saw the following Associated Press video showing Sendai a day after a massive tsunami destroyed entire sections of the Japanese port. Sendai is the capital of Miyagi Prefecture in northern Honshu, Japan’s largest island. It had been popularly known as the ‘City of Trees’. Our hearts go out to the Sendai folks and the Japanese nation. ~Barista Uno
