To relive the Titanic tragedy, we followed US-based RMS Titanic Inc on Twitter. The company, a subsidiary of Premier Exhibitions Inc, is the exclusive steward of the RMS Titanic dedicated to preserving the legacy of the ship, wreck site and all her passengers and crew through educational, historical, scientific and conservation based programs. We post here part of the series of tweets from RMS Titanic Inc on the events, as they happened, leading up to the actual sinking at 2:20am, 15th April 1912:

• April 15th 12:00 AM: There is enough water in the mail room, which is 24 feet over keel, to float mail bags. Titanic’s bow begins to sink.

• April 15th 12:05 AM: Orders are given to uncover the lifeboats and start to move the passengers and crew to deck.

• April 15th 12:15 AM: Orchestra is ordered to play light tunes. They begin to play lively ragtime tunes in First Class lounge.

• April 15th 12:25 AM: Carpathia, which is 58 miles to the southeast, receives distress call and heads full speed to rescue.

• April 15th 12:25AM: Order to put women and children in lifeboats.

• April 15 12:45 AM: Starboard No. 7, is the first lifeboat that is lowered, leaves with 28 on board. It could hold up to 65 at max capacity.

• April 15th 12:55 AM: 1st white distress flare is lowered.

• April 15th 1:15AM: Panic starts to strike those who are still left on Titanic. Distress calls become increasingly desperate.

• April 15th 1:15AM: The water has now reached the Titanic’s name on the bow.

• April 15th 1:45AM: The Carpathia hears the last report ever from Titanic. “Engine room full up to boilers”

• April 15th 2:00AM: The water is now only 10 feet below the promenade deck.

• April 15th 2:10AM: Wireless operators are released from their duties by Captain Smith.

• April 15th 2:17AM: Captain Smith declares “it’s every man for himself” and returns to the bridge.

• April 15th 2:18AM: All objects in Titanic plunge towards the bow and the ship’s lights blink and go out. Survivors witness ship breaking.

• April 15th 2:20AM: The broken-off section of the stern settles back into water. It fills with water before sinking into the sea.
